Cooking with Salsa and a Crock Pot: 4 Scrumptious Dinners!

Ah, the wonders of a crock pot! It's the culinary wizard for those on the go, and when combined with the zesty kick of salsa, it can conjure up magical dinners. Here at the Waterford Bee Company, while we're known for our top-notch honey products, we also have a passion for creating delightful recipes using our salsa, BBQ sauces, dressing and honey. We recommend trying out these basic recipes and adding your own twist... special note... try starting these the night before or early in the morning. The more time in your slow cooker the better! So, without further ado, here are four crock pot dinner options using salsa that will tantalize your taste buds.




1. Salsa Chicken Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 2 cups of your favorite salsa (Mild, Medium, Hot, Ghost Pepper, Carolina Reaper)

  • 1 tsp of cumin

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Tortillas and taco toppings (lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Place chicken breasts in the crock pot.

  2. Pour salsa over the chicken and sprinkle with cumin, salt, and pepper.

  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

  4. Shred chicken with two forks and mix well.

  5. Serve on tortillas with your favorite taco toppings.

2. Spicy Salsa Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 lb beef stew meat

  • 1 jar of salsa (Medium, Medium Corn, Medium Bacon, Bacon Habanero, Ghost Pepper)

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 3 potatoes, diced

  • 2 carrots, sliced

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in the crock pot.

  2. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

  3. Stir well before serving. Pair with crusty bread.

3. Creamy Salsa Veggie Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1 can of corn, drained

  • 1 jar of salsa (Medium Corn or Medium Garden)

  • 1 block of cream cheese

  • 1 bell pepper, diced

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients, except the cream cheese, in the crock pot.

  2. Place the block of cream cheese on top.

  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

  4. Stir well, ensuring the cream cheese blends smoothly.

  5. Serve with tortilla chips or rice.

4. Salsa Pulled Pork Sliders

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder or butt

  • 1 jar of salsa (Try it with a fruit salsa, Cranberry, Strawberry or Peach)

  • 1/4 cup of the Waterford Bee Company honey

  • Slider buns and coleslaw for serving

  • Sweet Carolina BBQ Sauce or Hot-n-Spicy BBQ Sauce make a great addition!

Instructions:

  1. Place pork in the crock pot.

  2. In a bowl, mix salsa and honey, and then pour over the pork.

  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

  4. Shred pork with two forks and mix well.

  5. Serve on slider buns with coleslaw and sauce.
